Training

K&M is committed to providing training and employment opportunities for young people in London. More than 70% of our workforce of 160+ painters and decorators are from London Boroughs and we currently have 13 students on our apprenticeship programme.

All apprentices that complete the three year course are offered full-time positions within our organisation.

In the last 15 years we have trained more than 80 apprentices, some of whom are now are most trusted supervisors and foremen.

We are a fully accredited Construction Awards Alliance college delivering full framework apprenticeships in Painting and Decorating to a national curriculum standard and also train apprentices for other decorating companies.

In 2013 K&M entered into Training Partnership agreement with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Training partnerships are a joint venture between a company and the CIOB with the common aim to have a fully-trained workforce operating on construction sites throughout the country. They are specifically tailored to match the requirements of the staff of the company concerned. All staff identified as being part of the training programme can be catered for regardless of their age, experience and qualifications.

Since 1997 we have operated a CITB Training and Development Plan. We have adopted and implemented a structured approach to training and development by evaluating all the activities undertaken by a decorating company.
